Sighting Reports 2009 Large Light Hovers, Approaches I-15, & Stops Traffic -
Date of Sighting: November 1, 2009 Description: Listen to Recording of Witness Interview (MP3) Note: This is a compelling sighting worthy of additional investigation. Time has not yet permitted my contacting the witness for further details. Some sightings of this description have been "crop dusters." However, I am not aware of any crop dusting activity in this area. Anyone who saw this light or knows anything about this sighting is urged to file a report. Results of Investigation by Bradford Evans Who Interviewed the Witness: Location of Sighting: Interstate 10 29 Palms/Mecca Exit (approx. 23 Miles East of Indio, just south of Joshua Tree) Witness Credibility: The witness came across as level headed and of above average intelligence. He is an aircraft mechanic in the military and said that he has been involved with classified aircraft and missile technology. Prior to the event described, he seems to have given little thought to UFOs. In fact, he was convinced that what he saw was a black project aircraft, noting that he’s never seen an aircraft capable of such speed. Sighting: The witness was driving west on I-10 near the 29 Palms/Mecca Exit when he saw what looked like a shooting star in the distance. The weather was clear skies with strong winds blowing west to east. He realized he was seeing something unusual when the “shooting star” stopped over some mountains on the horizon (which he estimated were 70-100 miles distant). The light was stationary for about five seconds. Then it shot directly toward I-10, covering the distance to the driver’s vicinity in less than a second. When it was an estimated two miles from the freeway, it turned due East. At this proximity, it looked like a sphere with white lights on either side. As it passed over the freeway, the object did a “barrel roll” then shot up vertically and disappeared. The witness noted that when the light shot toward the freeway, all the freeway traffic “hit the breaks.” He estimated that the craft was the size of an F-16. He did not hear any sound from his moving vehicle.
