Luray is in Northern Virginia About 60 Miles West-Southwest of Washington, D.C.

Description: I saw an object in the sky today in New Market, Virginia, viewed from the Luray side over New Market gap. The sighting occurred shortly after 5 PM today, November 16th, 2009. The object was shaped like a tube, brilliant, shiny orange as if reflecting the sunset. It was above a cloud. The object had a smaller bright light move out of it for a short distance then return to the tube shaped object. I watched it in disbelief for 5 minutes, then it slowly disappeared, prior to sunset.

Note: I don't have an explanation for this sighting. Sunset was near 5 PM EST so the object was seen almost concurrent with sunset.
